About us The Beginnings The Beginnings of the Freemasonry in the town of Vrsac cannot be clearly determined. What we know is that in 1875/76 the Lodge under the name „Egalitas“ was closed down. Some symbols on the Municipal Proclamation give us a hint that Freemasons were active in Vrsac even in earlier times. Vrsac was proclaimed the municipality by the Royal Edict in 1804, as the town within the borders of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The Light was brought into the Lodge Aurora on June 8th 1908, under the Jurisdictions of the Grand Lodge of Hungary. After the horrors of the First World War and the formation of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenians (Yugoslavia), Lodge Aurora becomes one of the 23 Lodges of the Grand Lodge of Yugoslavia. The Years of the Dark The Lodge Aurora ceased its work and went dark voluntarily in the August of 1940. under the pressure from the Government and with the thrat of Nazi occupation. Dr. M.B. was the last Master of the Lodge Aurora. After the occupation of the Yugoslavia he was exiled to Sremska Mitrovica, where he continues his medical practice. In 1942 he was arrested by the Croatian militia Ustase and executed at the place called Dudik near Vukovar. Relighting The road to relighting of the Lodge Aurora started on May 19 2007, by the Will of the Great Architect of the Universe. At that time written permission was given by the Grand lodge to several Brothers to start work of the Lodge Aurora „under the open sky“. The Grand Master of the RGLS and his Officers performed the Consecration of the Lodge on December 16 2007.
